You’re looking into getting a bathroom remodeling job when you get a call from your crush asking if you’re available for dinner tonight. While you want to agree to go, you can’t help but feel insecure about yourself. Fret not, we’re here to offer 4 tips to become more confident!
Get Your Body Moving
It’s no surprise that working out will help you gain more confidence. Exercising releases a happiness hormone, called endorphins, that extend well past after you’ve finished your workout. After a workout, you feel more accomplished as you put in the work to do something healthy for yourself.
Moving your body also allows you to be able to creatively express yourself. That’s why working out doesn’t have to be at the gym but could be a yoga or a dance class. Frequently exercising also fits into the mindset of “look good, feel good.” Yet, it takes more than that to feel confident – which is where the other tips will come in handy.
Positive Affirmations
So often, our minds tell us untrue things about ourselves. We may be stuck in the habit of negative and toxic thinking patterns. This is where positive affirmations can help you. Practicing positive affirmations helps you to see the truth about yourself – that you are worthy, you are enough.
If you’re not sure where to start with positive affirmations, here are a few to try out:
- I am meant to look exactly the way I look, and I love the way that I look.
- I am unconditionally, absolutely, and divinely loved at all times.
- I don’t have to believe everything my mind tells me; I know I’m worthy enough.
- I always have peace, love, and joy within me. I call upon these feelings now.
Don’t Take Anything Personally
It’s hard to not take anything personally, but if you’re wanting to build your confidence – this is exactly the mindset you want to adopt. We are all living in our own worlds, our own experiences. Anything that somebody tells you has a lot more to do with them than it does with you.
Don’t take anything personally. You have no idea what makes people think or feel the way that they do. It’s not your job to try and understand their beliefs. Instead, it’s important to look within. To know that the opinions of others don’t have the power to affect how you view yourself. Instead, you know people just project how they feel towards others. You refuse to take anything anyone says or does to heart.
Practice Self-Love
Last but certainly not least, in order to be more confident, you need to start practicing self-love. You can do this by gratitude journaling, mindfulness meditations, and practicing self-awareness. We are only able to be loved to the extent that we love ourselves. This isn’t a selfish act, but instead a selfless one.
Self-love allows you to be authentically yourself. You know you are enough and always loved. This will help you feel and appear more confident. You don’t rely on external sources to feel love, instead it is something that you always feel within.
