Coprodeli, through its Education Program, runs 15 schools that effectively provide dynamic resources and an extended curriculum to more than 5,000 children in Callao, Lima Sur, Ica and San Martin.
This project helps the community of Subtanjalla, Ica, located 5 hours South of Lima by road. This community was devastated by an 8.0 magnitude earthquake that shook the region in August 2007. In the aftermath, the majority of families continue to live in situations of poverty or extreme poverty and do not have access to basic services like water, electricity, health centers, security and quality education.
School performance continues to improve at the San Antonio Elementary School in Ica despite these poor living conditions. Elementary students attending the San Antonio School in Subtanjalla, Ica look forward to continuing their studies with Coprodeli however the high school is yet to be completed. Eight classrooms are required in total, but these can be built incrementally.
This project funds the building materials required to construct one classroom. This will make continuing education possible for the students of San Antonio School. Once completed, the classroom will serve the entire community. Initiatives to improve education are essential to support the people and reconstruction of the Ica region.
This project will complete construction of a school classroom equipped with: a door and windows, electricity and sanitation, and paint. The completion of the classroom will be part of an 8-classroom pavilion that will educate 280 high school students. Coprodeli school classrooms are equipped with desks, tables, chairs, required materials and windows to let in light and create a positive atmosphere for learning.
Elementary students attending the San Antonio School in Subtanjalla, Ica look forward to continuing their studies with Coprodeli, but their high school has yet to be completed. Coprodeli has built the first two floors of the high school. School performance continues to improve at the San Antonio Elementary School despite poor living conditions in the surrounding district of Subtanjalla.
The completion of each classroom consists of walls, windows, doors, paint, electrical installation and sanitation (where relevant).
