Since 1994, Coprodeli’s Nuestra Señora del Mar Girls’ Home in Callao has worked to ensure that many of the city’s most vulnerable girls are given a safe, loving home. In the city’s poorest neighborhoods such as Guardia Chalaca, families struggle to make ends meet and are often unable to provide for their sons and daughters’ most basic needs. These dire conditions lead to many children being orphaned, abandoned, or seriously abused; as a result, these girls and boys are left vulnerable to destructive paths that include begging, juvenile delinquency, gang membership, and drug abuse.
Coprodeli’s Nuestra Señora del Mar Girls’ Home has served and cared for nearly 200 young women over the course of 15 years. Every girl who has lived at the Nuestra Señora del Mar Girls’ Home has received proper nutritional, health, and psychological care and participated in specially-designed social and academic programs. Currently, 30 girls reside at the Nuestra Señora del Mar Girls’ Home.
This project will ensure the Home’s kitchen is provided with new equipment including a water pump for the sink, blender, five round tables, 12 wooden chairs, and three plastic trash containers. These items will replace the broken equipment that has been used in the kitchen since the Home's opening. The new materials will enable the Nuestra Señora del Mar Girls’ Home to continue to provide 30 resident girls with two nutritious every day. Become the Citizen Philanthropist for this project and ensure current and future residents of the Home receive the meals and nutritional programs they need to grow and pursue brighter futures.
In support of child protection services at the Nuestra Señora del Mar Girls’ Group Home, this project will fund the purchase of necessary equipment to renovate the home’s kitchen. A new water pump, blender, 5 round tables, 12 wooden chairs and 3 plastic trash containers will be purchased to provide 30 children and 4 staff members with dignified setting for their daily meals. In addition to purchasing equipment, this project will support the yearly maintenance of the kitchen.
Meal times at the Nuestra Señora del Mar Girls’ Group Home are a critical part of 30 girls' daily routines. Every day, the 30 residents eat at least two nutritional meals at the Home alongside 4 staff members including the full-time Resident Director. Afterward, they share kitchen chores that encourage their sense of responsibility and structure. After over fifteen years of consistent use, the kitchen equipment at the Home is in serious disrepair. This project will equip the Home with new kitchen materials to allow the Home, its four staff members, and 30 girls to continue to benefit from healthy, happy meal times.
This project will provide critical kitchen equipment to the Nuestra Señora del Mar Girls’ Group Home, and improve the way daily meals are prepared and served to the home’s residents. Once equipment is purchased, Coprodeli staff and community member volunteers will assemble and install it as needed. The Home's staff will be trained in their maintenance, cleaning, sanitation and storage. The kitchen equipment will then be used on a daily basis to serve breakfast and dinner every day in addition to lunch on the weekends.
