PROJECT SUMMARY

The community in Kahela relies on the village well as the main source of potable water for both family as well as livestock consumption. Recent droughts have created a lack of potable water in the village, and women now must travel to the village outskirts and spend up to 4 hours a day collecting enough water for their family's daily use. This project will construct 4 handpump wells in the village to provide families with convenient and reliable access to clean, drinking water. Each handpump will serve 20 Kahela families, reducing the time needed to collect water by at least 3 hours.
